      <image:title>Projects - Fathom, 2015</image:title>
      <image:caption>The word "fathom" has an unusually poetic history.  Originally the word meant "to understand" in a sense that was combined with the bodily idea of grasping or getting one's arms around something.  Eventually the term came to be used for the literal measurement across a human arm span, standardized to roughly six feet.  Today we most commonly hear this measurement to refer to a depth of water. This etymological relationship between mind, body, and sublimely-large outer world was the starting point for a six foot diameter model of the Earth in the speculated future continental configuration called "Pangea Ultima".  Just as Pangea exists in the popular mind as the primordial, Eden-like whole from which the current continental formations split - Pangea Ultima represents the post-apocalyptic utopian future towards which we head.  The formalized recreation of events like "Burning Man" and films like "Mad Max" represent forms of this fantasy.  Is it a coincidence that Pangea is dated at 250 million years in the past while Pangea Ultima is dated at 250 million years in the future?   This installation was featured at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design - special thanks to Andy Grundberg, Stephen Crouch, Tim Anderson, Camille Schefter and Reid Westlund.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - Mexicali, 2014</image:title>
      <image:caption>This sculpture is a monument to the intersection of the Mexicali, Imperial and Yuma Valleys as traced between green farmland and dry foothills, ignoring borders between the U.S. and Mexico.    The exhibition, Not Super Excited to Help, was featured at the non-profit gallery space in Mexicali Rose, an art and media center focused on teaching and providing developing local artists with a space to create "communitarian" content.  The installation was a collaborative project between Camille Schefter and Joseph Hale and was composed primarily of objects found in the surrounding neighborhood.       <image:title>Projects - Odin and EPCOT (work in progress)</image:title>
      <image:caption>"Odin and EPCOT" is the tentative title for a Museum-of-Natural-History-style installation featuring a maquette of the semi-famous white tiger, Odin, who dives into swimming pools for chunks of meat, and an approximate model of Walt Disney's original plan for EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) made primarily of used pizza boxes. Both involve a poetic tragedy I have yet to resolve.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Signal to Noise is a series based on the relationship between image, surface and text.  Many of the surfaces are amalgamations of altered materials found in alleys near the studio, the images are also "found" online and combined with imagined imagery and text.</image:caption>
